I have not kept up with this blog. Right now I am in Rhode Island visiting Mary and Mom. Mom just celebrated her 100th birthday and we had a party that she really enjoyed. I will post a picture when I get home. George and I along with Aunt Jean spent 2 days in Cambridge starting June 18th. We visited George's brother and family and George's cousin Margie. I never went into Boston due to the bad weather and since I used to live there it was not a big deal. We went to North Conway and stayed at Aunt Jean's time share condo. George and I went to Maine and had dinner in Portland with a friend, Ruth Summers but due to rain we didn't do a lot of sightseeing. The LL Bean store in Maine is like 2 Cabelas (?sp) side by side. No great bargains to be found there. I think they have a seconds store in the neighborhood but it was raining really hard and I did not want to get soaked looking for it..We had one very warm 78deg. day so we drove to lake (Win-a-paw-sauki)that's not how you spell it so bear with me and enjoy the phonics.We went for a 2.5 hour boat ride on the 500 passenger (boat, same name as lake) and really enjoyed the cruise. It is a huge lake with several islands and spectacular homes. Hard to believe that anyone has a summer home as big as the one's that we saw. Last Friday we all drove to RI for Mom's party. Mary and Bill's Boys and their spouses were there, just back from 10 days in Ireland. Mary and I went to Martha's Vineyard Monday morning to visit my friend Linda Tecce. We worked together years ago and have tried to keep in touch. It has been 20 years since we got together but it seemed like yesterday. We both thought that we looked the same, I guess getting older does that to your brain. The Vineyard was not crowded and we noticed vacancy signs all around, which is a sign of the times. The economy has hit the vineyard, sales everywhere that were usually unknown until the end of season.Pictures to follow..

Almost March

Last week, after buying basic quilting materials I went to a friends house to learn the basics. Lorraine and I met while golfing with our husbands. Lor quilts and does scrap booking in a craft room in her house that is quite nice. A place for everything is the best way to go but since I don't have such a room we shall say goodbye to the dining room until further notice. I have warned George not to walk barefoot in there because I don't want to hear him cussing while pulling sewing needles from his toes.
Lorraine's machine cost $7K and that was at a big sale. Today I bought myself a new, very nice machine. It does all that I need it to do for a fraction of the price and no it doesn't have software nor will it greet me with a creepy voice when I turn it on. I am really excited and may have to name it. All this and free lessons, life is good.
March 1 is the annual Kite Festival at Zilker Park which is a huge event in Austin. This year, as in the past, we will sell Culver's Ice cream and donate to the cause (scholarships) Andrea and Austin are going to do all the scooping for us and we will take Nash for the day. A good deal for us except for the setting up at 8:00a.m. I need to go to bed..Night Night Y'all

February 2009

Jan flew by and now Feb is 1/2 gone. George and I play golf at least once a week and now that the days are getting longer we can go at 2 or 3 and get in quite a few holes. Sunday George was one under on the front 9 at Star Ranch, our home course. He did great on the back 9 considering the wind gusts were ridiculous., I quit after 15.
Sat night we kept Nash at our house and enjoyed playing with him. He is changing and growing so fast.

Today was the first annual making of the deer sausage out at Bill and Diane's ranch in Blanco Texas. Bill's new sausage stuffing machine was to be Christened but when plugged in, nothing, nada, not going to work. He dusted off his antique, tried and true, sausage stuffer (I thing this dates back to WWI) It worked great. We will have great sausage for all to enjoy, whenever your visit. Bill has a shed out back that smokes the sausage, but we didn't wait for that.
Superbowl Sunday will be spent at Pat and Mikes with several other couples. Mike just got a 52" plasma flat screen and will hold center court.
I don't really care who wins, since the two teams I like, Dallas and New England (being true to my roots) are not playing.

We have good news from Florida. Benjamin had his surgery today and he is just fine. What a hard day for his Mom and Dad. He willbe up and running Wed. no doubt.
I just looked at every ones blog page and realized that I am way behind.
I had Bunco at my house tonight and as usual it was great fun. Nine people all talking at once and no one misses a thing.
Margarethe Rayburn will be a Grandma again this summer. Ruthie will be 38 and having her first baby. She are Charlie are thrilled. Charlie has a 24 yr old and 19 yr old. and they are really excited about the new baby. Lets pray that Charlie doesn't get called up again to serve in the gulf war.
I will take some new pictures soon and post them.
We are a little slow at the restaurant on some days but hanging in there. Lets hope the economy picks up soon.

What a great time we had visiting Tyler at Christmas. With Aunt Jean we stayed at the Silverleaf Resort in Flint, TX. Next year we will decorate the place with Christmas lights and maybe a small tree. We celebrated Nash Tanner's first birthday at the Tanner's in Flint. He met many cousins, Aunts and friends of Austin's and we all had fun. Christmas Eve we were at the Goforth's in Tyler and after a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner of turkey, ham and everything that comes with a great Holiday dinner Santa made an appearance. Almost all of the children loved Santa, except the 2 youngest. Benjamin and Nash had a different opinion of the man in Red. They liked the gifts and Nash especially loved the wrapping paper. Mamaw and Papaw?sp were able to visit for the whole evening and everyone enjoyed their company.

Christmas day was spent at the Tanner's eating, turkey, ham, stuffing and once again just like the Goforth's, about everything on the table that you would expect Martha Stewart to have at her house. I lost count of the number of people that were there and we really enjoyed the new Tanner Country Club that Austin created in an afternoon. Beat that Tiger...........Red Neck golf---NO RULES JUST FUN.

It seems quite back here in Pflugerville and I am not quite ready to go back to my routine. Tonight we are going to the UT Basketball game to get our Longhorn Fix and get ready for the big game.
